Protective Services/Elder Abuse
Elder Abuse describes situations in which persons over 60 years of age, living in the community find themselves at risk and in danger through the actions of their caregivers and/or family members. Abuse includes physical abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual abuse, neglect and financial exploitation.
Anyone can make a report of abuse. A Protective Services worker will investigate the situation to determine the nature and extent of the abuse. If abuse is confirmed, caseworkers coordinate with community agencies to provide services that will eliminate or alleviate abuse.
CRISIS Intervention
The Crisis intervention program provides casework to elders whose status in the community is threatened due to Physical, Emotional or Financial problems. This may be due to increased frailty, substance abuse or a failing support system, which may result in poor living conditions and possible loss of independence. A Caseworker responds to referrals and works with clients to address the concerns and maximize their ability to remain in the community.
